Learning activity for the book:
Third Grade Character Traits and Text Evidence Activity-Students will read story and track different character traits throughout the Beginning, Middle, and End through the use of a graphic organizer. They will also use evidence from the text to support their character traits. Students will then post their character traits/text evidence on a group mind mapping blog (  https://www.menti.com/ and type in 554098). Each student in the group will discuss their answers with text evidence and how the character changed or evolved throughout the book through the results of the mind mapping blog (Students will need laptops, chromebooks or desktops for this).

Students will then reflect on their learning process with character traits and text evidence as they fill out a Google Form Self Reflective Assessment on their strengths and needs of the skill as well as their own attitudes and disposition with it.

Learning Goal: Students will be able to identify different character traits with supportive evidence throughout the story based on overall comprehension of the text.
Learning Objectives:
  • Learners will apply concepts of character traits while using evidence from the text to support their claims. (Cognitive)
  • Learners will reflect on their overall learning of identifying character traits from the text through the use of a self reflective assessment form. (Affective)
  • Learners will write a blog post about their character traits and text evidence online in order to gain multiple viewpoints/perspectives from their peers (Psychomotor).
