Summary - Crenshaw is an imaginary cat, and Jackson is a very real boy, with a very real imagination and also some problems. Jackson’s parents have some money issues, and Jackson’s Dad has MS. This story combines the real life aspects of having money problems with the science fiction world of Crenshaw and Jackson, the young scientist. The book takes us through their life, and the troubles of living in a car and feeling a little lost in your own family.

Activity - Create a pamphlet about an organization in your community that helps people or animals. What do they do? How can we donate?

Standard - CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.5.7 - Conduct short research projects that use several sources to build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a topic.

Goal - To show friends, family and community members how they can donate and help throughout their community

Objective - Students will research and present their findings on community programs that help people in need.

Outcome - Students will have a better understanding of the dynamics of their community and their classroom.
