Learning Activity:
Target Age: 3-4 years
The illustrations in this book are so well done that some pages don't have any text on them at all. With a small Storytime group of preschoolers, I would ask them to take turns using their own words to tell the story of what happens on the pages that have no written text.
Learning Standard:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.K.7
With prompting and support, describe the relationship between illustrations and the story in which they appear (e.g., what moment in a story an illustration depicts).
Learning Goal:
Children will tell what is happening in the story by using clues from the illustrations.
Learning Outcome:
Children will tell what is happening in the story, My friend Rabbit, by using the illustrations as clues.
Learning Objective:
Children will demonstrate narrative skills by telling what is happening on the pages without text in My friend Rabbit, by Eric Rohmann.
