One such lesson would have the students communicate an entire class period without talking, Instead, they must write out all their conversations. Here is the teacher telling them the lesson on pg 73, "Today there will be writing only. Nothing will be turned in, but everyone must write all period long, and everyone must communicate with at least four other people. You may not stop writing for more than fifteen seconds." Learning Goal: Students will explore alternate forms of communication by communicating only in writing. Learning Objective: (K) Students will use effective writing techniques to communicate to their peers with short written passages. (S) Students will write out all of their conversations in prose. Learning Outcome: Students will demonstrate grade level writing techniques in written short passages.
