Wonder

Image result for wonder

I think that the book Wonder was good. I think that it would be a great tool to show students how other students who have a birth defect or a disability are treated differently. This book could be incorporated with the CCSS by using it as a tool to go along with opinion piece writing following the standard W.5.1 which states that students  can write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information. a. Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which ideas are logically grouped to support the writer’s purpose. b. Provide logically ordered reasons that are supported by facts and details. c. Link opinion and reasons using words, phrases, and clauses (e.g., consequently, specifically). d. Provide a concluding statement or section related to the opinion presented. The opinion piece on Wonder could be whether or not the the students thought the mother should have home schooled Auggie or sent him to school? Do they agree or disagree that not sending him to school protected him? Or did it make it worse for Auggie?
